User Rating:I received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics a long time ago, and if the iPod Touch and the App Store existed when I was getting it, iFormulas would have been a very handy application to have. Quite simply, it is a listing of many, many mathematical formulas used in various math and physics equations. It’s not every formula in existence (it leans more towards math equations than physics), but the description states that new ones will be added in each upgrade.
Truthfully, this isn’t so much an app as a reference manual. You never know when these formulas would be handy either. I recall creating an application that required the use of the formula for determining the shape of an ellipse. At the time, I had to look it up online. Had iFormulas existed then, I probably would have done the same thing.
The only downside of the application is that it’s really intended for a particular niche of people, those being either math and/or physics students or those that use the formulas often. Given the choice between iFormulas and Call of Duty, I think the average person would choose the latter. Fortunately, unlike Call of Duty, the app is that it’s free to everyone so it’s possible to own both for the same price. Also, if you were merely an amateur physicist, this app would cost no more than the price for a professional.
What’s more to say? The app is simplistic but it does what it sets out to do. And it’s free.
