User Rating:It’s only a matter of time when every decent app in the App Store is done by a corporation because they have the money to invest. Plus, having a corporate app in the App Store is something like a feather in the corporate cap. While not every corporation has an app, Pizza Hut has joined the iTunes club.
Obviously, the app is for, duh, ordering pizza. You can pretty much do everything you can do on the Pizza Hut website, including determine your local franchise, viewing the menu, and ordering a pizza … only it’s more fun.
Interestingly, when you’re viewing the menu and composing a pizza, the orientation automatically switches to landscape. It’s also almost entirely made from pictures (in case the user can’t read). You can drag the pepperoni from the top to the pizza and it magically becomes topped with pepperoni. You can even tilt the device and have only half the pizza covered in the topping. By the way, this sort of interactivity happens with every menu item. It’s part ordering system, part video game.
There’s even an actual game in the app called Hut Racer. It’s kind of like Spy Hunter, but with a pizza delivery car that is sadly not armed. The idea is to tilt the screen to avoid obstacles as you drive down the road delivering a pizza. Ironically, each obstacle is an advertisement for something available at Pizza Hut.
It’s a cute system and certain makes for a very different pizza-ordering system. Given the price and the nice extras that come with it, I recommend.
Pros: Interactive, game-like pizza-ordering system. You play a game and get a pizza at the end.
Cons: I feel like a corporate shill.
