While the iPhone’s camera leaves much to be desired and will, hopefully, see a significant update with the presumed upcoming iPhone hardware refresh, the iPhone as a platform for manipulating images is amazing. Over the last week or so I have had a renewed interest in the imaging apps and, most recently, have been toying around with the current version of Image Touch. I’m rather impressed.

Image Touch is an easy to use app for resizing and rotating pictures and, more importantly, creating collages. The app has a limited number of functions and, in this case, that is a very good thing. It keeps the app light, easy and intuitive to use. Rather than spending time reading the user manual just about anyone can start the app and get working in seconds.

You can add, resize, rotate and move images. You can add (or remove) additional images and then, with a double tap move a picture to the forgepund or send it back. You can change the color of the background, save images locally or, with the current version, email it right from your iPhone. The app is designed without buttons and, instead, makes excellent use of the iPhone and Touch’s multitouch. In addtion you can add tags and, if using an iPhone, geotag the colllage. Finally, you can also add a frame or shadow to your collage.

In the main settings page you can determine whether or not you want to geolocate by default and whether or not the app offers suggestions while in use. Almost not worth mentioning except for the sake of completeness, the app let’s you add decorations to images. These are, in my opinion, thin in number and cheesy in look. At the same time while it fldoes not add to the app, nei
Her does it detract from it either.

Over the last few days I have created a number of collages and have been more than a bit impressed by the app’s ease of use, stability and functionality. And this collage of my dog and her cousin well… it just makes me smile. That alone is worth the cost of the app!

Quick Take

Value: High
Would I Buy Again: Yes
Learning Curve: Low, that is part of the appeal of this app
Who Is It For: Anyone who wants to do more with their iPhone’s camera than just snap shots
What I Like: Works well and with ease.
What I Don’t: When you email an image the recipient gets the image… and a huge advertisement for the app. The "add-on" images are cheesy!

Final Statement: Good app, I like using it, it stays on my iPhone
