There’s already numerous apps for browsing imgur on Google Play, such as imgur Viewer, imgur Gallery, and Swimgur. However, none of them are made by folks of the official imgur site. Now, enter imgur’s official BETA app from imgur, themselves.
The Good
The app is pretty quick for browsing through imgur, as well as for uploading pics directly to imgur. The imgur app is easy to use. There are three sorting options, including highest scoring, user submitted and most viral. Of course, you can also sort images by date added. This makes browsing imgur on phones much quicker than browsing via a mobile browser. Gifs load quickly and play without skips.
The Bad
Unfortunately, the app crashes more than it should. Occasionally, the images don’t match up correctly with the captions. You also can’t swipe to the next image while viewing a gif file, which is a problem, since there are many gifs on imgur.
The Ugly Truth
The Imgur – official BETA app isn’t a necessity for Android users, but it is helpful. The app doesn’t do much to separate itself from the other imgur browsers on the marketplace. Of course, any app that allows you to quickly browse imgur’s hilarious images is always good. Hopefully, imgur adds more features before it officially releases.
