If you are looking for a simple way to develop haunting and enchanting musical arrangements the Flourish app is probably a great choice for you. It asks the player to simply select the various images on the screen in order to create entirely unique musical recordings or sequences.

The Flourish app opens a very basic screen that asks if the player wants to Start Afresh, make a New Offshoot, review previous Compositions, read the Instructions, or learn About the app. To begin, the player will simply select an image from the screen. This introduces the first keyboard in the sequence, sliding the finger along the screen introduces other percussive or melodic symbols that can also be added to the existing track.

The player just taps or double taps each of the symbols to see how they change the current tune. There are ways to record loops, generate sequences, build arrangements, select from a consonant collection of instruments, and even sequence individual loops by connecting them with chains. The tunes can all be saved and revisited at a later date.

There are many mixing and musical apps such as Grid, ProLoop and ThumbJam, but the Flourish app is designed to be more exploratory and intuitive and asks the player to engage in the  imagery as much as the sound.

The cost for the app is $2.99 and all updates are provided at no additional expense. This game works with iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

If you want to spend a bit of time relaxing with some music and soothing colors this is a great app to download.
