If you are someone with a Viper remote smart start system in your vehicle or multiple vehicles, then you can use your iPod Touch or iPhone to remotely start a vehicle. You can enjoy all of the same features as the remote control unit required for the car without adding anything else to your keychain.

The Viper SmartStart app allows users to sync their existing key fobs or remote control units with their mobile device. After this they can lock and arm their security system, start their car remotely, open their trunk, unlock and disarm the system, and even activate the panic button if necessary. Just like the regular Viper systems, the app allows only the person with the remote tool to get in the vehicle and drive it away as well.

The app also has an alerts tab that allows the user to review all activity on their vehicles, and a handy cars tab to review which vehicles are synced with the mobile device. Custom settings are designed to be identical to those selected for the keyfob or remote control options.

There are no other apps available for those who want to use their Viper system through their mobile device, and it does require a pre-existing installation of the security system for functionality. This app functions with iPod Touch and iPhone devices.

There is no cost for the Viper SmartStart app, but the user must have a Smart Start kit or module installed and pay the yearly service fee. Please refer to the company website for more details.

If you would like to reduce the number of keys and remote control devices that you carry around throughout the day, this app is a good solution and should be downloaded right away.
