You get to experience an audition and competition and even hear the judges review your work. The American Idol The Game app judges the performer based on style, fame, and talent.

The game keeps track of the goals that the player must reach and integrates each experience with real video footage from the popular show along with top of the line musical recordings too. A player will have to experience all of the same increasing challenges as those participating in the real-world program, and will even receive messages from members of the program instructing them in what they should or should not do and congratulating them with every success.

The player does get to select from three possible songs at each performance level, and the game screen shows them the notes they must hit in order to pass on to the next level. Great sound effects and dialogue only add to the excitement of the experience.
