What was the last great short story that you read? With busy schedules and the higher costs of many printed books, most people don’t regularly take in a good or new short story. The goal of the ElectricLit app is to promote modern literature and authors and to provide direct access to the content of the online magazine.

The app allows the user to download the entire contents of the current volume and also peruse back issues for stories or other details. With a policy leaning towards greener publishing practices – meaning a reduction in the amount of paper used to create the magazine – the publishers decided to format each issue as an online or browsable feature and to also offer it in the more portable and environmentally friendly app format too.

Authors featured in the magazine include Micheal Cunningham, T. Cooper, Lydia Millet, Jim Shepard, and Diana Wagman. Some pieces in the publication are introductions to upcoming novels, and others are simply short stories.

There are other literature focused apps like the famous McSweeney’s, and the ElectricLit app is gearing up to be a valuable addition to anyone’s regular reading list too.

The cost for the ElectricLit app is $4.99 and it has an online companion website as well. This app functions with iPod Touch and iPhone devices, and the OS 2.2.1 is required for functionality.

If you want to keep a constant supply of interesting, contemporary, and relevant reading material with you wherever you go this is a perfect app to download today.
