How many cities have you visited? Are you interested in learning about more of them? If so, you will appreciate the many features of the Metropolis app. It uses the GPS features of your device to indicate the general direction of major cities around your present location.

For example, if you were standing in the heart of New York City, you could open the Metropolis app and soon see a very beautifully designed compass graphic that pointed to the direction of such cities as Boston, Chicago, and Atlanta. If you were interested in knowing more about any of these cities you could just tap on the name and this would automatically open up a map of the entire region.

If you craved further details you could again tap on a city and this would open the Wikipedia entry for it too. This is not the standard view of it, however, because the entire app is designed in a very exotic and visually appealing manner that is reminiscent of the golden era of world travel. The app also allows the user to elect the English-only maps or to allow the maps to appear in the native language of the area instead.

There are no other apps designed to provide the kinds of information available through the Metropolis app. Certainly there are map and travel applications, as well as those which access the GPS of the device, but no other serve as a sort of informational entertainment in the way this one does.

The cost for the app is $1.99 and all updates are free of charge. The app functions with iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone devices and will work with English and German languages.

If you are curious about the world around you, or you would just like to really get to know a specific part of the world, this is the app for you.
