Imagine what it is like to be color blind. Your eye cannot properly translate color and you can see green where others might see red. So, how do you do something like shop for a gift, or purchase coordinating clothing? With the handy Retina app you can simply activate the camera on your iPhone or iPod Touch device, aim it at the item you want to assess and wait for the app to indicate what color scale the item falls into.

The Retina app is one of the more remarkably simple apps because it has only a few features to use. To begin a color analysis the user simply opens the app and activates the camera. This cues the color analysis to begin. By ensuring that the color desired falls directly into the center of the view finder, the user will be able to shortly read the color range for the item.

The app also uses a small dark circle in the view finder to cue the user into understanding the saturation of the hue – the nearer the opening in the center the paler the saturation level, and the closer to the outer perimeter the more intense the saturation.

There are other paint and color apps for artists, but until now there has not been a mobile tool for those who must deal with color blindness.

The Retina app is formatted to operate exclusively with iPhone and iPod Touch devices. The app is made available free of charge.

If you live with color blindness and would like a reliable tool for color analysis this is an ideal app to purchase right away.
