Sometimes you get your hands on an app and think "why hasn’t anybody thought of this before?" iPuppet is one of those apps. Quite simply, it turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a hand puppet that moves its eyes and mouth when you speak into the microphone (an external microphone is required for the iPod touch). The possibilities for children’s entertainment are endless.
As well as reacting to your voice, the app also reacts to swipes on the screen (in case you have an iPod touch without a microphone and still want to be a puppeteer). When nothing is happening, the puppet closes its eyes and mouth. The blue puppet version is currently being offered for free in the App Store, so act fast. If you miss the window of opportunity, you may have to pony up a dollar. There is an option menu to control the volume sensitivity of the microphone.
One suggestion to the iPuppet creators to give it some longetivity: create your own puppet. Have the face on the screen be customizable.

iPuppet really does look like he is alive and talking! It's a great conversation starter, or a way to lighten up that 'heavy' conversation -- who can be serious when iPuppet is moving his mouth to your every word! If you have an iPod Touch (without a microphone) you can still enjoy iPuppet, just touch anywhere onscreen and slide your finger to control his mouth, eyes and eyebrows.
