User Rating:Despite the proliference of zombie-destroying games out there, all it took was a lowering of the price to $.99 to allow this game (based on the movie Zombieland) to take off in sales. Admittedly, the game is pretty cool. The movie was recently released on DVD, which is probably why the company chose this time to lower the price.
The concept is pretty standard (a character marches along destroying whatever obstacles are in his or her way. In this case they are zombies). The execution of it is pretty good as the graphics are very good, which makes sense considering that a major studio was among the entities behind this game.
What differentiates this game from others of its kind is the ability to attack simultaneously on both the left and right sides of the screen. Zombies attack from both sides, you see, and the central character of Tallahassee keeps a weapon in each hand at all times.
The game is gory fun. My only complaint is that the "music picker" option is a bit awkward. You can only choose in advance which music from your audio library you can play when the game is either on a menu or at level 1 (and possibly future levels as you play more). Why not simply allow the user to turn off the game sounds and play whatever music he or she wants during the run of it? You can’t change the music when a game is paused. For that matter, there should be an option when the game is paused to quit.
All that aside, it’s a cool game that doesn’t require any brainpower to play and is worth $.99.
Quick Take
Value:High.
Would I Buy Again:At this price? Sure.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Those that like violence and gore and are ambidextrous.
What I Like:The graphics. The ability of the character to fight in both directions simultaneously. The price.
What I Don't Like:Can't play music in the background unless you set it before playing. Can't quit while paused.
Final Statement:It's worth the bloody $.99.
