Line Rider clones are a dime a dozen these days. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just plain ugly.

Thankfully, JellyCar falls into none of these categories.

JellyCar not only raises the standard for this type of game, but rather for all iPhone games in presentation. The innovative menu system, which is truly a lot of fun in itself, is just one of the standout features this free title has to offer.

The basic premise is to drive your vehicle from the start of a puzzle to the end, overcoming a few challenges along the way. Most of these involve switching your vehicle between the basic car and the towering truck, each of which are better for certain circumstances. The obstacles aren’t very difficult, but they’re still a blast to solve because they’re always refreshing, new ideas.

Included is a local time-based high score system for each level (a total of 12), although a global high score system would have been even better. Speaking of which, the replay value is the only spot where JellyCar falters. Unfortunately, no map editor or creator was included, so you’ll be stuck with the 12 provided maps… for now at least. But the top-notch graphics and spot-on control system (especially for zooming) are more than enough to make up for a lack of leaderboards.

What really puts the game overboard, however, is the best sounds available on any game for the iPhone so far. The tunes are upbeat and the sounds effects make it a seamless joy to play. Go download it for yourself and get immersed in this JellyWorld.

Quick Take

Value:  The only limitation
Would I Buy Again:  Yes
Learning Curve: Low
Who is it for: Fans of great graphics, sounds, and gameplay. Line Rider fans.
What I like:  The effortless controls and innovative menu screen.
What I Don’t: Nothing enough to mention it here.

Final Statement:  One of the most fun distractions money doesn’t have to buy.

Read the Developer's Notes:
JellyCar is a driving/platforming game for both iPhone and iPod touch. The game is about driving a squishy car through squishy worlds, trying to reach the exit. JellyCar features soft body physics for all of the objects in the world. Also your car can transform for a limited time to aid progression through the level. *** NOTE *** touch the "?" squishy icon on the main menu for the "how to play" instructions! Features: * Soft-body physics! * Simple touch and tilt controls * 12 levels to play * original music by Matt McCarthy * full sound effects * option to listen to iPod music while playing the game. Controls: * Touch (and hold) on either side of the screen to drive in that direction. * Tilt the device to rotate your car * Touch the car to transform - the car will inflate to much larger than it's normal size! this only lasts for a limited tome though. * Touch with 3 fingers on the screen to pause/quit the current level. * Use the standard Pinch gesture to zoom in/out at any time.O U R   T A K E . . .
