There have been all kinds of swinging games in the history of video games. I remember Pitfall in the 80’s. But never … and I mean never … has anybody given a jetpack to a monkey. If they have before now, then I missed it.
The objective is to swing the monkey along the jungle as far as possible. The further you get, the more coins you are award with which you can shop for virtual prizes. The monkey can fire vines from its wrist and in the event of possibly falling into the swamp and the alligators below (or crocodiles. It’s tough to tell).
Admittedly, I suck at swinging games, so I found it kind of annoying that simply drowning once means that the game is over. Isn’t it more traditional to give the character three lives? On the other hand, I haven’t exactly mastered the jet pack thing either. While giving a jetpack to a monkey is amusing, it doesn’t guarantee that the monkey will know how to use it.
The graphics are cute and cartoony. Using the game is a bit confusing (particularly when the vine with the grappling hook on the it suddenly falls down) so I recommend reading the "How to Play" section under the Options very carefully.
Overall, the game is kind of "middle of the road" for me. While it’s a cute concept and a decent price, it doesn’t really jump out at me as unique. If you like swinging games, go for it. If not, pass.
