User Rating:Kids vs. Zombies is one of those cute, cartoony games that try to sell zombie-ism without the actual gore. The good news is that nobody’s brains get eaten. The bad news is that nobody’s brains get eaten.
In a nutshell, you are three children hiding behind a makeshift fort with various offensive weaponry (the origin of which can only be postulated. Perhaps one of them is a scientific genius?) shooting various members of the undead as they approach. The free game comes in four levels: easy, medium, hard and nightmare. The $.99 version comes with more stuff.
The most confusing aspect of the game is trying to operate all three commando children simultaneously. It can lead to much confusion and panic for the player, particularly when the zombies get close.
As an interesting note, the nightmare level of the game actually happens at "night" with flashing lights and rapid-moving zombies. Having a primal fear of zombies myself, I find that level to be scary as Hell.
I do like the graphics for the game, despite the cartoonish nature of them. Another complaint is that I wouldn’t mind the zombies graphically tearing apart the kids if they reach them. However, that probably wouldn’t get past the Apple censors.
Overall, the game is worth downloading for free and possibly even for $.99. It’s scary without being gory and is good fun.
Pros: Good graphics. Interesting game.
Cons: Difficult to play multiple kids simultaneously. Not graphic enough for a game with the word "zombie" in it.
