What a great idea: listen to famous people, and learn English at the same time! In high school, my German teacher made us learn Nena’s 99 Luftballons by heart so we’d know all the German prepositions. And I still remember! “Hielt man fur UFO’s aus DEM All…”. Anyway, this type of thing really works, just like watching your favorite shows in the language you want to learn (I watched Melrose Place in Spanish for a while, but I didn’t get much of it)

In this Karaoke app for Android you listen to JFK’s famous 1961 inaugural speech. As the newly minted president talks, words are high lighted, just like in karaoke, so you know what they look like and you learn some famous quotes at the same time. If you want to know what a word means you can click it. And I guess you could even talk along, karaoke style!

Karaoke4English is a great idea. Using famous people’s speeches may however not appeal to everyone. If your English is still a bit rocky, you may prefer SpongeBob to Kennedy, but I guess copyright issues helped the developers pick JFK. Combining eBook, karaoke and dictionary in one tool I think is a great idea, and it’s FREE! So, to coin a phrase: “Ask not what your android can do for you, ask what you can do for your android.”!

We rate this app 4 out of 5 stars.
