There’s no point in denying that we live in a society where humour, for some reason, has to be dark, sardonic or outright bastardly to be funny. The days of Carry On and Fawlty Towers are now long gone, as we now get our kicks out of the infinite pool of obscene images circulating the web.
This is exactly why Lol Pics is destined to be a successful app, as it compiles images from some of the web’s most reputable funny sites, such as Demotivational Posters, Tattoo Fail and Ugly People into one admittedly hilarious app.
Despite being relatively new, the amount of images on the app is already substantial, so it’s just as well that you can search for pics by category, of which there are plenty. Aside from that, the app stays functional rather than flashy when it comes to options. You can comment on, rate, download, and share the pics you find (albeit only by e-mail, which is strange seeing as the content on here is the kind of trash that’s perfect for Facebook and Twitter).
If you create yourself a Lol Pics account, you can also take your own funny pics and upload them to the app, thereby finding out if people share your sense of humour (hint: the content on here suggests you should try toilet humour or laughing at fat and ugly people). Don’t try to be too clever and witty. This is not what Lol Pics is about.
Lol Pics is an app that, for better or for worse, is an accurate reflection on internet culture and the effect it’s had on our sense of humour. Not that I’m sticking my nose up at it. In fact, I’ve spent plenty of time gleefully rubbing my face in all the dirt that people around the world wish to share. There is such a wealth of ever-growing, instantly accessible, and crudely hilarious stuff here that you’re bound to find something that tickles your funny bone. If not, then you can at least laugh at the depravity of it all.
