MeetMe ($1.99 in the App Store) is one of those sorts of apps that you don’t know that it’s handy until you actually use it for a little while then try to live without it.  There have been many circumstances in my life when I had to drive to a halfway point to meet somebody and didn’t know the area at all.  MeetMe provides a list of possible restaurants or other sorts of locations (via Yelp) at which to meet.

The app starts off with a rather cool looking 3D map graphic effect, then gets down to business.  The simple interface allows the user to input Point A and Point B via a toolbar at the bottom.  Once the points are entered (and the user has the option to automatically choose their current location as one of the points), the user then taps the third toolbar option of Places to Meet to find various locations at close to the halfway point between the two addresses.

There are two circumstances I can think of off the top of my head in which this app would be handy.  The first is a blind date.  The second is when you’re travelling and meeting up with someone while on the road.  Granted, you could use Yelp itself for that, but there is a possibility that you don’t know where you are or what’s nearby.

In short, this is a simple elegant app.  My only complaint is that I think it’s slightly overpriced and should be $.99.

Pros: Simple interface.  Good graphics.  Useful.

Con: Slightly overpriced for what it provides.
