User Rating:I’ve been going retro quite a bit recently in my reviews. This is a retro app as well, but it’s from the Amiga Computer, which I never owned nor worked with. It’s not my retro. It’s someone else’s.
The app lets you play old style MOD files (which are kind of like MIDI files from way back when). The files range from the melodic to the downright weird and you have to have a WiFi or data connection in order to download new stuff. The library itself is reminiscent of the music library built into the iPod Touch or iPhone itself.
The app does let you fiddle with the music (reverb, surround, and megabass) like a mini-DJ. You can also control the volume from the app and select favorite MOD files.
There is an informational button that gives some sort of description of the file and a power button that does absolutely nothing other than give this app a retro feel. Through the settings, you can control the length of play and switch to offline mode, among other capabilities.
The retro factor probably is a huge reason to download this app. With all the cheap device memory available nowadays, there’s a reason that file types like MIDI and MOD aren’t really used anymore.
With that in mind, I have to give this app a pass. It’s not a bad app, but it’s for a very specific niche that I’m not a part of. If you are a part of that group and have a spare two bucks, go for it.
