User Rating:The sad truth is that a quick look at the App Store "Lifestyle" section reveals the fact that crApps about. In fact they have has children and gandchildren. There are now no shortages of fart app, crass apps and, the latest rage, girls-in-bikinis apps. The shaken-baby app and its removal is a reminder not only that crApps abound, but that there will always be someone to push the envelope.
I assumed Money Shot was yet another app that falls into this category. Yet as I was about to hit delete on the email announcing its release something caught my eye. It said, "It’s not what you think"
Turns out Money Shot is a rather playful app for plating with pictures… and money.
When you first start the app you are shown a screen with 12 different US bills. After picking one (the choice becomes important in a second) you are asked to choose either the top or the bottom half of the presidential image on the bill. From there you can either take a new photo or grab one from your album. After picking one you can resize and move the new image in order to line up the half image on the bill with the half image of your intended "victim".
You cannot, however, rotate the image. For this reason it is important to pick a bill in which the presidential image is facing in the same direction as your "victim". If the image you ae "moneyfying is facing straight forward pick an image form a bill in which the president is facing forward. If the image is to the right pick one facing right. Simple, huh?
It is another fun way to play with images of your famiy and friends and DEFINITELY isn’t what I first thought.
Quick Take
Value: Medium. It is fun but might get old fast
Would I Buy Again: If I was looking for a wide selection of apps for playing with images I had taken this would be on the list. If I was looking for two or three apps to manipulate images it would not.
Learning Curve: Low. It walks you through the process easily
Who Is It For: People who are looking for every possible way to play with images on the iPhone
What I Like: Works well. Creative title AND app. Simple
What I Don’t: It has limited uses and you cannot rotate images.
Final Statement: I don’t see myself using this a lot but it is certainly a fun app whose images made me laugh.
