Mover is a one trick pony… but it is a good trick. It lets you take either an image or a contact from your iPhone or iPod touch and move it over to someone else’s device without having to go through the hassle of e-mailing it.
In order to use the application it must be running on both devices. That’s easy enough in light of the fact that it’s free.
In addition, both devices need to be on the same WiFi network.
So long as they are the application will immediately connect one to the other end it will even tell you what other devices are available and connected.
On each device there will then be an arrow pointing toward one of the sides of the screen. From there it’s as simple as pulling up a picture or contact and literally flicking it in the direction of that arrow. As soon as you do, the image will disappear from one screen and a small "busy" swirl will appear on the other. And a few seconds later the image or the contact will appear on the second device.
It’s simple, it’s free, and it works. Here’s a quick video clip of the application in action —
Quick Take
Value: exceptionally high since the application is useful and free
Would I Buy Again: absolutely. Until something better comes along this is definitely an application that’s worth having on your handheld for those rare but important times when it’s more convenient to send a picture or contact to someone with the flick of a finger rather than through e-mail
Learning Curve: exceptionally low. There’s really no interface to speak of and so long as the application is running on each device in each devices on the same WiFi network it can be easier
Who Is It For: people who have at least one friend with an iPhone or iPod touch since this application is all about sharing
What I Like: works well and is priced right
What I Don’t: at times transferring an image can take a little longer than expected
Final Statement: this application is simple, does what it says, and is worth the space able take up on your iPhone or iPod touch
