User Rating:myDiva is a wonderful app for those who fulfill two criteria: 1. They are some sort of elitist or opera snob and 2. They enjoy insulting people. The app is best used if you have some sort of external speaker on your iPhone or iPod Touch, which shouldn’t be a problem unless you own a 1st generation iPod Touch. If you do, then you have to resort to either a pair of earphones or an external speaker system.
The application is fundamentally a soundboard. The creators hired an opera singer named Arianna Zukerman to sing various insults at people. That’s it. It’s great publicity for Arianna Zukerman, if you ask me.
I enjoy opera but I’m not what one would call an afficionado (I’m usually more impressed with the singing capabilities than the actual content). Also, I’m not particularly keen on insulting people. I find this application more annoying than anything else. However, I will acknowledge that I likely don’t fit the criteria for the niche or target market.
The nice thing about the app store is that it’s still a young enough market to find strange apps like this. Perhaps the creators can find a rapper next with which to do an insult soundboard.
In short, while myDiva is cute and entertaining it really doesn’t fulfill any useful function. If you’d like a soundboard and want to spend $.99 on it (and are not a frequent visitor of the opera), I’d stick with the Army of Darkness soundboard.
