When I was a kid, there existed these "choose your own adventures" books (which are probably still around today). The idea of the book is that you as the reader would make decisions on behalf of the main character and that would affect the pages you go to and the overall story you read, much like real life. MyQuest is the digital version of that concept with a few more bells and whistles.
As with many fantasy games, the universe you live in is medieval. The main character is a hunter that is on a quest. I could only laugh at the irony of having an electronic screen dressed up to look like lettering on parchment. As with many reading apps, you slide your finger from right to left to turn the page. There is even the sound of a page turning and a clicking noise when a decision is reached.
When confrontation occurs, the game goes to another screen with a picture of whatever you’re fighting. There is even a gallery to look at if you want to review for later. There are even memory games that substitute for magic attacks and many other interesting ideas. It’s as if the creator was a closet fantasy novelist and has taken the concept to the next level.
I like this application. It’s the future of interactive books and is great for kids or adults that like fantasy. The only disadvantage I see is the cost. If they cut the price in half, this may be worth picking up.
Pros: Interesting concept. Good execution.
Cons: A little expensive.
