User Rating:I figured this would happen. At some point, someone would simply re-release a game with a different name as a new version and charge for the upgrade. Fortunately, in this case the creator is National Public Radio and the upgrade cost is free.
NPR News is different than NPR Mobile. For one thing, some of the news is actually laid out in text format rather than simply streaming the radio broadcast (although the news itself comes from a myriad of different sources such as the Associated Press). There are streaming broadcasts of radio (pre-recorded from NPR, of course) to go with the text news.
NPR News lays out the news in several different formats. One of them is by program (which lets you know which program is broadcasting live at the moment). Another is by station (which is divided up per state). Yet another is by news topic. In short, if there is a way to find the news you are seeking, you’ll likely find it on NPR.
It’s also possible to boomark a particular program and add it to your playlist for listening later. Naturally, free isn’t cheap so there are ads to support the app, but most of them are for the NPR shop which doesn’t seem quite as bad.
As with its predecessor, NPR News is short on flash and long on content. Provided you have a data or WiFi connection, there is no reason not to download NPR News and listen to it, particularly for the price.
Pros: Easily searchable. Much content. Easy to use.
Cons: Can’t always get WiFi or a data connection, but that’s not the fault of NPR News.
