Whether you’re a fan of the current administration, or hate his frickin’ guts … if you’re politically active or even politically interested … then this application is probably for you.  This newsreaders gets all the official government informational feeds and aggregates them into one place.

It’s a clever idea, since all the news sources are free.  Just throw in an advertisement banner and you have a source of income.  I’m surprised more people don’t do it.  I’m sure the government would be willing to do it, but it would likely cost them 100 million dollars to develop.

As a note, the application itself is called White House News, which is probably a smart idea.  Associating this particularly application with Obama makes it seem politically biased.  Which it is.

Let’s face it, the source is the White House.  It’s going to be biased no matter who is in office.  There is some coverage in the application from newspapers and other external sources, but this seems an application for fans (or haters) of the current administration.

The application itself is pretty straight-forward and doesn’t really have any interesting extras.  The rotating ads on the bottom do get annoying and distracting, but that’s the price of a free application.

In the end, I think I’ll stick with one of the newsfeeder applications, such as the New York Times or Associated Press.  I think they will likely get breaking news faster than a White House feed.

Pros: easy, simple interface.

Cons: not much to the app itself.  Annoying banner ads on the bottom.
