User Rating:Apps like Office2 prove that Microsoft really has to get on the ball in terms of providing their Microsoft Office suite for the iPhone and iPod touch. There are already several third-party application that provide edit functionality for DOC and XLS files and I’ve seen least two of them make the top 50 sales. Office2 hasn’t made it there yet, but it should.
It is difficult to edit Word documents on the iPod touch due to the small screen and awkward touch-keyboard. This app makes it simple and intuitive to create and edit Word and Excel files on your device. Once the document or spreadsheet is created, you can either save it locally and transfer it to a local computer via an HTTP network or use cloud computing services like iDisk or Google Docs.
The app also allows the user to create specific folders to hold the files, delete files, move files between two different places, and change settings such as the ability to see file extensions and sizes and how the date is shown.
I’ve been looking for a Word and Excel document editor for a while. At $5.99, this one is slightly cheaper than the other alternatives although it doesn’t do quite as much. Overall, I can recommend Office2 for editing Microsoft documents and spreadsheets on the go. Hopefully it will find a niche and won’t be wiped out by iWorks for the iPad.
