Optimum for iPad isn’t for everyone. Literally. It only works for those who have a Cablevision subscription with both cable television and Internet included as well as one or more iPads. However, if you have all of that, this is a must-have app.
Basically, this app allows you to stream live television to your iPad. Other than the similar Time Warner Cable app, I can’t think of another app that allows for this. It should be noted that this app also allows you to download pay-per-views to the iPad (with some exceptions) and also lets you remotely program your DVR (functionality that is already in the Optimum iPhone app).
You can watch TV with this app anywhere you have access to your home router, which means you could potentially watch outside in the backyard. However, there are limitations to this app. You can only use it from your home router. While it’s possible to use certain aspects while on the road, live television is not one of them. Also, the user is only allowed a maximum of three iPads in which to register, only two of which can be used simultaneously. It’s difficult to say as of this writing whether this app will suffer the same fate as the Time Warner app and have some channels pulled.
Under the right circumstances, this app is most definitely worth it particularly for the price. It’s a nice supplement to cable television if you own an iPad.

Final Statement:A nice supplement to cable television. Every cable company should release an app like this.
