Jennifer’s iPod Touch – Now that was (NOT) easy!

By

On January 15, 2009

I have attempted to write this umpteen times already, and just can’t come up with the best way to word it! No matter how I write it, I look like the technical idiot that I really am!  So be prepared, this is funny, so go ahead and laugh!

In my previous posts and again here I have declared my lack of knowledge to you, but I truly don’t think some of you either

a. believe me
or  b. can’t imagine how little I really do know about all this

(Note: Jennifer did NOT create this image.)

So when I tell you about my latest little adventure it will be perfectly clear that I really have a long way to go.

Rivet TREK Clip System – Giveaway

By

On

Mike did a great job yesterday ranting about concerns over the dumbing down of the App Store.

He’s right. There are some applications that are just $.99 or even free that are superb but, more often than not, high quality applications, particularly those from independent developers, cost more than $.99.

Some are $4.99, some are $9.99, and some are even more.

Oftentimes, however, it’s certainly worth it.

That doesn’t mean, however, you should be downloading any application that’s over 10 bucks. Because some of the more costly applications are absolutely worth every penny, while others aren’t.

We’ve got a few of the Rivet Systems that Dimitri reviewed last week available to give away tomorrow night. In order to enter to win one leave a comment below telling us –

What application have you paid more than $4.99 for and feel was worth every single penny?

Juxtaposer – Promo Code Giveaway

Juxtaposer lets you combine multiple pictures into fun photomontages quickly and easily thanks to an amazingly intuitive and responsive multi-touch user interface.

Take any element from one picture and add it to another. Put your friend’s head on a statue’s body, remix your pets into a mythical creature, or magically join your favourite band, it’s simple and the process is fun.

This is how you work with Juxtaposer: First, load in any two pictures – perhaps one of your dad, and one of your dog. Next, use your finger to erase around your dog’s head.
Quickly zoom in and out using two finger gestures. To cut out your dog’s head exactly, you first zoom out and make a rough outline, then zoom in, and erase or un-erase with pixel-accuracy.
Switch to move mode and use two fingers to move, re-size and rotate your dog’s head into place over dad’s.
It’s easy, intuitive and fun, and you’ll have a great new Dog-Dad in about a minute.

There is detailed in-program help if you need it (accessible from the load/save menu, click the disk button in the toolbar), and many cool features, including:
– Unlimited undo means no mistake or accidental brushstroke is permanent.
– Use hard or soft brushes to create sharp or blurred edges.
– Create smooth blends between images with transparent brushes.
– Keep adding elements from other pictures to your composite image if you like.
– Save directly to your photo album.
– Save multiple sessions and return to them later.
– Save top image cutouts as ‘stamps’ and use them in future projects.
– Red mask mode (second screen shot) lets you accurately isolate part of one image without being distracted by the second image in the background.
– Translucent mode makes it easy to align your images precisely.
– Switch to and from full-screen with the tap of a finger.
– Double-tap to switch between erase and un-erase functions.
– The stamp tool lets you add multiple copies of your cut-out to your composite.
– Work in portrait or landscape orientation; optionally have images auto-rotate.
– Flip the top image.
– Set advanced settings in the Settings application.

Quick Tip – Redeeming App Store Promo Codes

By

On

If you receive a promo code it is simple to redeem. Just go to the home screen of the App Store and click "Redeem" in the upper  right hand corner. Enter your redemption code and sync your iPhone or iPod Touch. Make sure to do so immediately as promo codes do expire and cannot be replaced if this occurs. (Sorry but it only works in the US App Store. Also, please remember to provide feedback here and on iTunes after using your new app for a bit. Thanks.
