InfoQ’s Werner Schuster reports on Rhodes, a new open source toolkit developed by Rhomobile that makes it possible to run Ruby applications on the iPhone, Windows Mobile devices, and the BlackBerry. SlingPlayer in the Approval Process!
Yes, the long awaiting Slingbox iPhone Application is undergoing the approval process.
What is SlingPlayer?
First visit, https://www.slingmedia.com and you can see how great this application is going to be! For people who went from Windows Mobile devices to an iPhone and lost this ability to have your TV at the palm of your hands, well, it will soon be over! You can start to gain more pounds and regain your couch potato status, anywhere and everywhere!
Of course, for those starting out to invest in this, it’s not as cheap as the application that ORB (https://www.orb.com/) provides but really, comparing the two is like apples and oranges. With the Sling application, you are required to purchase their Slingbox which attaches to your cable box which can be overwhelming due to its price tag but that’s technology for you.
For those who have been using it for years, you know what instant gratification it has given you to never miss a recording or never miss a TV program.
It’s not for the faint of heart and I wouldn’t have suggested this 3 to 4 years ago when Sling Media first roll out this idea. Never mind the fact that we were still living on the “Edge” network days but with 3g, wifi and the ever evolving rumors of higher speed access today, the streaming is smooth as butter. Don’t blame me if it cut’s in and out for you, blame that on ATT’s spotty service at times but I can say 90% of the time, it is going to impress.
Quick Update: Well, all good things come to an end. This story has been debunked. We will have to wait a bit or a lot longer. Back to the drawing board. I guess it was too good to be true!
I know what you’re thinking and you’re wrong.
iGottaGo isn’t like those newly permitted "potty-apps" like Pull My Finger.
This isn’t "iGottaGo" as in "iGottaGo To The Bathroom!"
This is "iGottaGo" as in "iGottaGo Because You Just Won’t Shut Up!"
As the developer explains it…
If you use an iPhone and Toodledo you are likely to be familiar with Appigo’s ToDo and Notebook.
ToDo syncs with Toodledo’s task management while Notebook syncs with the Notebook feature Toodledo added some time back. Best of all, while the two applications work independently they also interact with one another seamlessly.
Tonight both apps received an update and while ToDo’s is mostly bug fixes, Notebook’s update is HUGE!
Looking for a memorable last minute holiday gift for your favorite iPhone fan? Well we’ve got an idea for you! Element Cases’ new Liquid Cases for the iPhone Classic and 3G are custom-built, high-impact polymer cases that are each hand-painted and individually personalized.
The super hard-shell offers extreme protection and the laser engraving makes each case botbothh personal and unique. While you can choose from a wide selection of stylized art, Element Case will even custom engrave your choice of logos on front and back.
The protection and the uniqueness, doesn’t stop there, however.
I had a subscription to Netflix for a number of years and really enjoyed the service. About this time last year, however, I realized I wasn’t viewing enough movies to make the monthly fee worth the cost. Add to that the fact that they were rolling out their streaming service but the movie were limited to Windows only, and… well I ended up canceling my subscription.
After learning that the service now streams to Mac’s last week I decided to give Netflix another go. I thought it was worth a look so I re-upped last week and I’m glad I did!
