Periscope is a great concept  that does what it says. Unfortunately, it could do so much more than it actually does.

The idea is simple, instead of having to go through a series of bookmarks in order to check sites you frequent, you can have 1, 2, 4 or 6 webpages displayed at the same time. The interface for entering a site’s data is clean and simple. You can easily see which sites are listed and, with the tap of a button, you can go to the “periscope“ view (It is similar to the "Dialer" view the Opera browser offers on a desktop).

Depending on what you want from this app it is either "great" or it "has potential".

If you are looking to the app to allow you to “check in seconds if your websites are running correctly”, it is a home run. It is clean, simple, allows you to see all the websites at one time and it auto refreshes.

If you want to use it to browse multiple websites with ease it has potential, but isn’t there yet.

My issue with Periscope is that is ALL it does. If you are using the 4 or 6 "windows-view", the screen is too small to actually read any of the websites. Yes, you can set it to show just one website at a time and then move from one to the next. But, while that makes the pages large enough to read, unfortunately the “buttons” for moving from one website to the next are far too small.

You can, however, use the "one page at a time" view, put up with the challenge of moving from one to the next (buttons are too small), and browse up to 6 of your favorite websites that way.

Quick Take

Value:
Right now low to medium. With a few changes- high
Would I Buy Again: Not in its current form
Learning Curve: Low
Who is it for:  People have have numerous sites to monitor. With an update could be a great browsing option for everyone
What I like:  Clean, well designed, easy to use. GREAT concept
What I Don’t:  Difficult to move from one website view to the next

Final Statement:  This is a great concept. For monitoring your sites it is excellent. For general browsing it has great potential.
