Plants vs. Zombies Review – Who would expect corn cobs to be rechargeable missile launchers?

A classic,Plants vs Zombies was one of the reasons why I even got myself an iOS device back in the day. Laying out plants along per-determined grids to fire an endless barrage of mindless zombies seems rather entertaining, doesn’t it? It gives little reason to wonder why the zombies crave for brains so much, given how they relentlessly trudge forward amidst a suicidal wave of projectiles constantly flying their way.
So the concept of the game is very simple. Players choose from a large arsenal of plants, each with its own destructive zombie slaying capabilities. These can range from the very basic pea-shooters, to the potato mines or even multi-lane shooters that cause a wide area of damage which of course cost a lot more to plant. Every level is limited by the amount of sunlight you can generate, the game’s version of mana for summoning plants. Sunlight production can be bolstered by certain plants, and if played right should not pose much of a trouble unless one gets too ambitious with the bigger guns.
And of course in true Popcap fashion, as players progress through each level more plants are made available for use and whether intentional or not, it seems like the more ridiculous they look the more powerful they get.

What I really liked about this game lies in the extensiveness in content. While the main aim of the game lies in completing the adventure mode levels and scoring achievements, the game has much more to offer for those who bore of the norm. A Zen Garden allows players to nurture their own plants. This has no bearing on actual levels however, so it can be seen as an entirely different game on its own.
Plants vs Zombies will no doubt be one of the best dollars you will spend on a game.
Would I Buy Again:Yes
Learning Curve:Moderate. The game does well in slowly increasing the difficulty of the levels.
Who Is It For:Just about everyone
What I Like:The game takes a casual approach, but yet is exciting and has enough depth to keep one hooked for hours.
What I Don't Like:NA
Final Statement:Buy it
