User Rating:Prismatix is a game that stands all on it’s own. I have never seen/played a game like it, but then again I haven’t played every game out there so it could be similar to something. Unfortunately I can’t think of anything to compare it to so I will do my best to describe it from scratch.
Once you open up into a game you are given a board full of gems, but don’t get excited this isn’t like Bejeweled. On the top part of the screen above the board is a wheel. On the wheel are four gems. The object of the game is to connect between 2 and 4 gems of the same color in the board that are selected on the wheel. Once you have connected a few gems they will disappear from the board and new ones will appear on the wheel. The entire point of the game is to clear the entire board of all the gems. I would love to tell you what happens after you complete an entire board, but I can’t. Out of all the times I played the game, I was never able to clear the entire board. I always got stuck with a few gems sitting by themselves off to the side that I was never able to clear. I would assume it is exactly the same as every other game I have played from this developer in the fact that once you complete one board you are given the exact same thing to clear. All I know is that you achieve trophies the same way you would in the other games by this developer. Trophies for things like High Score, and Bonus Rounds, etc.
My largest issue with Prismatix is the simple fact that it is hard. I was never able to clear a single board and I played this game between 20-30 times. I finally got frustrated and gave up. I love difficult games, and I consider myself a thinker to some degree, but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out any way to clear at least one board.
QUICK TAKE
Value: Low-Medium
Would I Buy Again: No
Learning Curve: Medium
Who is it For: Anyone who likes puzzle games
My Likes: Good potential
My Dislikes: I wasn’t able to even clear a single board, let alone move on to more levels
Final Statement: Prismatix has the potential to be a fun game, but it is extremely hard to clear an entire board, which makes it irritating to be forced to play the same level over and over again. Who knows though? Maybe I missed some secret way to master the game and fly through levels easily. It’s always possible, but I guess you will just have to buy the game to find out!
