Massively multiplayer online role-playing games for the iPhone and iPod Touch. They’re all the same, aren’t they? Well, not this one. Rap Rivals is the most immersive, dynamic, and unique MMORPG on iOS.
Unlike the other games where you may, for example, be a rock star and do tasks (which you aren’t actually a part of, you simply get points by clicking ‘Do Task’), in this game you are actually a part of the points process. Like a real rapper, you go to the studio, experiment with several beat components like drums and vocals (there vocals for you to add to your track or you can create your own rap and record it), and then upload your creation for the world to vote on.
When people like your music, you earn respect and also money, both of which can be used to upgrade your character with things like clothes, jewerly, and tattoos. Still sounding like the other virtual games? It’s really much better.
Besides the great immersiveness of the game and the fun character upgrades, you can also listen to and rate others’ raps to earn money. Some, surprisingly, are actually pretty good. Others are not, but are still fun to listen to.
While the game is great, it is very niche-y. You probably won’t like this game if you’re not into rap. But you may.
Also, some may not like the aspect of having to record their own voice to a track. Again, you can use vocals that are included in the game, or record your own voice and edit it beyond recognition. There really are a lot of effects.
The game is a lot of fun. If you’re into rap or MMORPGs, then this good rap MMORPG is for you.
