Red Gun is a very good implementation of the classic Western shoot-em-up game. It’s obviously an attempt to capitalize on the fame of Red Dead Redemption, but if you’re going to copy, copy from the best.
For a ninety-nine cent game, the graphics are superb. There are 3D perspectives, panning and even a floating camera to add to the anarchic sense of a gunfight (you can also select a fixed camera perspective in the settings).
Playing the game is fairly simple. There are a series of shootouts (presumably with the "bad guys") in which you can either swipe your finger to duck or tap the screen around your opponents to shoot at them. If you see a red target coming from one of your opponents, that means he has you in his sights and his next shot will hit you, so you better duck quickly. Five hits and you’re a goner.
The app does attempt to give backstory to the character of "Red Gun" in the form of some old-style text. It’s more of an excuse between shootouts than an actual plot. But in the Old West, you didn’t need an excuse to shoot someone with a gun.
You also have to give some leeway to any game in which someone across a room can get a bead on you, but someone standing practically in front of you keeps missing. Hey, it’s a game.
I give five stars very infrequently, but due to the terrific graphics, fun and simply game-play and low price, Red Gun is one of those rare recipients. Recommended.

Final Statement:"Red Gun" is the "True Grit" of the iPhone. It's a must-see.
But for all of you, I have an offer you can’t reject. Come with me, polish your Colt and grab a dozen bullets. Red Gun is my life, a path of death, blood and glory. Inside, there is no room for mercy. This is not a game kid, here you come to die.
