We spend a month in the summer and as much time (but never enough time) the rest of the year at a cabin in the mountains. Prior to installing cable we played a lot of board games. MakeMeSay may prompt us to return to those halcyon days!

This is a simple but fun game that is similar to Taboo but without the big bulky box. During game play a word or phrase appears. The play who has the iPhone or Touch that round has to make their team members guess it without saying, rhyming, or actually spelling it. Each team member gets one turn per round. In each game there are a set amount of words in a set amount of time.

As you might expect, a correct guess gets a point. The team with the most points wins.

A neat feature of the game is the degree to which it is customizable. You have control over the number of teams, rounds, words per turn, and seconds per turn. There current version offers seven different categories- Entertainment, Nature, People, Phrase/Saying, Places, Food, Science/Tech- and you can control which are used. Once playing, a word will appear along with the category it is in.

The interface is somewhat rudimentary but totally usable. There are three buttons- "got it, next word", "pass, next word" and ""I messed up disqualify word". The countdown timer is right on the screen and a warning noise lets you know time is running out. That’s right, you won’t find any hourglass with this game. Kinda sad from a nostalgia point of view but a nice convenience.

I like this game a lot. The degree to which it can be customized, and the fact that the entire game fits in your pocket is nice. Warning, do not play with sore losers as each person takes a turn holding your precious device and the things do not bounce when thrown in frustration.

At just $0.99 the game is fun, convenience and highly economical.

Quick Take

Value: Very high
Would I Buy Again: People who like games like Taboo
Learning Curve: Low. Very well conceived and executed. The games walks you through as you play
Who Is It For: Everyone
What I Like: Fun game to play with friends, highly customizable
What I Don’t: I would like to see specialized versions- a 60s version, an 80’s music version etc

Final Statement: Fun fun game. Definitely worth a buck

Read the Developer's Notes:
Get ready of an awesome multi-player party game along the lines of Password, Taboo, or Catch Phrase. MakeMeSay will challenge your wits while pitting you against your friends. No longer will you have to play alone on your iPhone or iPod Touch, this party game will bring everyone one together.Divide yourself and your friends up into teams, select how long you want to play, and off you go. MakeMeSay will give you a number of words that you will need to get your team to say. Make sure not to say the word yourself (or a word that rhymes), or else you loss the point for that word. Also, watch the clock, time is running out. Once your team is done their turn pass the iPod off to the other team.MakeMeSay currently has over 1000+ word and more are on the way. This is my first application, and I will updating it extensively soon. I plan to add:More CategoriesMore WordsImprove the user interfaceIf you have any problems, questions or suggestions, please contact me at [email protected]
