User Rating:I have friends who absolutely worship the stock market. They collect statistics and know the ups and downs of most major stocks of the last fifty years off the top of their heads. Those friends would dig an app like Seasonalysis.
Granted, the app pulls stock information from Yahoo (in which case, why wouldn’t you just go to Yahoo?), but it presents it in an organized fashion with charts and everything. Plus, Yahoo doesn’t give the sort of detailed historical analysis of this app (or if it does, I am unaware of it).
The thing I like most about the app is to visualize for you the peaks and troughs of particular stocks. Apple’s stock rose 200% in 2004 and 133% in 2007 (the year of the iPhone). This year is looking good for the company as well.
Seasonalysis lets you set the maximum number of previous years for stock analysis (which defaults to 10). You can also alter chart line width for both portrait and landscape views. The settings also come with a decent help section.
The app itself is pretty straightforward and is interesting either to stock enthusiasts or those who simply want to see historical analysis of their favorite public companies. Since I fall into neither category, it’s difficult to get excited about this particular app. It’s a little pricey, but the target audience is those that play the market anyway.
In short, I give this app a "thumbs in the middle", but I’m probably not the person the creators are trying to sell to.
Pros: Easy to use. Good interface.
Cons: Pricey. Only useful for stock market lovers.
