Coming to you from 13 year old developer Mark Lalor is SharkChase, a very addicting game.

When you first open this app, you may want to view the tutorial which is located under the Options menu. The tutorial basically explains everything about the game in a few presses of the finger.

You learn that you are a shark who is looking to eat. Different colored fish will have different effects: red and yellow fish will give you one point, purple and yellow fish are poisonous and will make you sick for several seconds, and green and blue fish will add five more seconds to the clock (which starts at 60 seconds).

Upon starting the game, I thought the game would be based on dragging but learned that the game is accelerometer based. You tilt the device and tap to munch when near a fish. If your final score is high enough, there is also a list for the top ten high scores.

Some may criticize the game for its basic nature: with its text and drawings, it looks like a young kid’s game. But this does not affect the gameplay at all; the game is a very fun play, and I believe that the nature of the game gives it character, a unique quality.

I did find a bug where the tutorial would not display correctly when playing the tutorial more than once, but besides that everything else seems to be working. I also felt the accelerometer controls were undersensitive. A calibration option would be nice.

In the competitive $1 world of Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, and Doodle Jump, will this 13 year old developer make it to the top spot? He could, just as Bubble Ball, developed by a 14 year old, did (only that was a free app). Whether he does match Bubble Ball’s success or not, this is a pretty good game that anyone can enjoy.

Quick Take

Value:Medium.

Would I Buy Again:Yeah.

Learning Curve:Low.

Who Is It For:Those who enjoy simple, addicting games.

What I Like:The I-gotta-beat-my-previous-score factor.

What I Don't Like:Some things, the high scores for example, could use some touching up.

Final Statement:Looks like a kid?s game but is fun for all ages.

Read the Developer's Notes:
It's lunch time for this shark and you get to help him eat.

You have 60 seconds to eat as many fish as you can.

There are three types of fish in this part of the sea.

The yellow and red ones are the good ones that you want to eat.

The purple ones are poisonous and if you eat one you get sick for a while.

The green and blue ones gives you five more seconds when you eat them.

Good luck!
