User Rating:I dig skee-ball. I’ve played it for as long as I can remember whether going to a carnival or to the shore. It’s hard to believe the game is older than my dearly departed grandfather.
The creators have gone out of their way to capture the look and feel of the classic game in this app. They even have a version of the famous type of tickets skee-ball machines would dispense on the app’s splash screen.
There are a few ways you can "throw" the ball at the alley. One is to swipe your finger in different directions upwards. Another is to hold your thumb on the device and "flick" it with your wrist. You can tilt the device to add spin to the ball.
The game does include a few extras that make this version of skee-ball better than life. One is that at times during the game, certain holes start to glow. If you get the ball into the glowing holes, you earn extra points and extra tickets. Another is that, as with skee-ball in reality, you win tickets good for prizes which can be cashed in and actually affect the game. For example, you could win skee-balls of different colors and designs to use in future play.
The graphics are excellent. Kudos to the creators of this game for so accurately recreated the skee-ball environment. My only complaint is that it’s really difficult for me to set up my patented bank shot off the side of the alley. I keep trying to no avail.
Other than that, this game is well worth the $.99 investment.
