User Rating:I managed to grab this app on the day when it was available for free, and I’m glad I did. There’s no way I would have paid money for this one. I’m saying that as someone who watched the Smurfs cartoon a long time ago.
At its heart, the app is a battery charge indicator, but it’s done in such a confusing and ridiculous way as to render its central purpose somewhat moot. It’s like using a toaster as a night-light.
In an effort to show the battery charge, the app has a hopping Smurf (which can be either a standard Smurf or Smurfette) which keeps hitting its head against a bucket. With each hit, the battery charge is indicated from the bucket as if the user was playing a game of Mario and getting points.
The app can even unlock and let the user make the Smurf hop around the area. I ask: what’s the point of that? This isn’t a game. You’re not playing for points. You just want to know how much charge is left in your iPhone.
Even the sounds are annoying as the app uses a strange "boinging" sound when the Smurf is hopping and the bucket is hit. When the iPhone’s charge is full, the app plays the Smurf theme. Again, why?
When one charges their iPhone, they want the process to be silent and not a game. If you want to make a Smurf-based game, then make a Smurf-based game. In short, this one is NOT recommended.
Quick Take
Value:Low.
Would I Buy Again:Not, even for free.
Learning Curve:What's to learn?
Who Is It For:I'm not exactly sure. Gamers who need their batteries checked?
What I Like:Not much.
What I Don't Like:Almost everything.
Final Statement:This app is totally Smurfed. I recommend Smurfing another.
