Songify is a unique app. It does something original and actually doesn’t charge for the product. It’s also a lot of fun.
The app records your voice, autotunes it T-Pain-style to the background music selected and presents it to you as a full song. In short, all you have to do is recite some lines (which could be poetry, a rant or whatever comes to mind) and the app turns it into a full-blown tune. Granted, the song that the app creates isn’t likely to win a Grammy but that’s where the "fun" part comes in.
Songify makes its money with ads and by having the user purchase different background tunes. The app comes with three free background tunes and the others are available for a reasonable 99 cents each. Once created, your new tune can be saved to a local library and shared via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.
The app has a simple and intuitive interface design with a large recording button in the center (the same button plays back). It can get a bit hypnotic if you stare at it while it’s playing. It is also possible to share your song with other users and have it rated (and, to be fair, you can rate the other users’ songs as well).
Songify comes as close to perfect as an app can get in terms of originality, design, simplicity of use and fun. Get it while it’s still free in the App Store.
