User Rating:I give credit to Spikey’s Bounce Around for being a somewhat imaginative if simplistic game. The object of the game is to help Spikey free a bunch of butterflies trapped in jars by hopping around and destroying any plants or flowers that the jars happen to be on top of. The jars then fall and break, releasing the butterflies (note: future levels may have different goals). Please note all this has to be done within a certain number of jumps by the character otherwise you lose the level.
The cute aspect to Spikey is that, due to the protruding spikes on his balloon-like personage, he can stick to walls. He’s like the Spider-Man of balloons.
The game has 50 levels of differing mazes. Each level does end relatively quickly so I guess the game needs 50 levels simply so that the user doesn’t feel as if the game is over too quickly.
It’s a cute and addictive game and extra points are given for originality. It’s frustrating when one can’t free all the butterflies within a certain number of jumps. You can only jump at certain angles when sticking to walls, so the laws of physics do somewhat come into play.
Spikey’s Bounce Around is currently offered for free at the app store as of this writing (down from $2.99). I think the game would be worth it even if it were $.99. In the event that the free offer ends, there is a lite version available for free that has fewer levels. For that price, I’d recommend giving it a try.
