When I saw Spinart on the iPhone I had to get it–both for myself and my daughter.  When I fired it up, I was happy with the interface–it easily allowed me to pick the paint color as well as the amount of paint I wanted to use without having to flip through various screens.

I could then either drop my paint and make a picture, or (as you would expect) spin the paper and start having fun.  It’s nice that the faster you swipe the "paper" the faster is spins.  You can also slow down the spinning by swiping in the opposite direction.

I have to admit it; it is fun to watch the picture “form” as you drop the paint on the paper.

After your picture is complete, you can then save it to your photos, or upload it to a Flickr group.

Spinart is easy and fun to do, and there’s no mess to clean up!

Quick Take

Value: Medium

Would I Buy Again:  Probably

Learning Curve:  Very little.

Who Is It For: People that like spin art–kids and kids at heart

What I Like:  I liked the ‘speed’ of the interface; because you had all the controls right there, you could make your images right away instead of having to flip through screens.

What I Don’t: The paper is pretty small–could be a function of the UI being large.

Final Statement: Spin art is fun and done well; it effectively recaptures the experience of spin art that you may have had as a kid.

Read the Developer's Notes:
SpinArt is based on one of our favorite childhood crafts! It's fun&creative--you'll spend longer than you think playing with this app! Whether it's waiting in line at the bank, at the dentist, or on a really boring date, you can always take a spin. Enjoy!

When in "Spin Mode" (the button with the green arrows on the left), swipe your fingers across the canvas to spin at varying speeds. Then switch back into paint mode (the multicolored splat button), and choose from a trio of brush sizes and a color from the palette, then use your finger to splat some paint and watch some amazing patterns emerge!

When you're done, go back into Spin Mode, double tap on the spinning canvas to stop it and admire your final artwork! You can then save your creation to your photo library. From there you can email it to friends or set it as your iPhone desktop.
