User Rating:With a title like SpongeDude, you better grab it fast before the creator gets sued for copyright infringement by Nickelodeon. Technically, the title of this game is "SpongeDude and the Alien Hippies" which can only imply to me that the creator was on dope.
Apparently, SpongeDude is an alien who fell asleep on his job on the moon and was transferred to Earth as punishment by iBoss. As SpongeDude, you have to complete different levels of different tests (like "Catapults and Bombs’). It’s a weird dreamlike fantasy world too, like the Yellow Submarine world from the cartoon but not as much fun.
One really annoying aspect of the game is the hippy music playing in the background, like someone trying to play rock on a sitar. Thankfully, you can control the volume of both the music and sounds from the control panel seen when you pause the game.
The motion and physics of the game work well, but the landscape and characters look like something a fourth grader would design. Obviously, that’s on purpose and goes with the trippy nature of the game, but it still looks amateur.
One redeeming quality of the game is that the creators don’t even bother to have spoken words in it. Rather than speak the dialogue seen in the word balloons, the characters say "blah blah blah" as if the storyline wasn’t really that important anyway. And it wasn’t.
In short, this game is eminently skippable. I give it two stars because at least I found the "blah blah blah" dialogue funny.
Quick Take
Value:Low.
Would I Buy Again:Probably not.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Stoners.
What I Like:The dialogue: "blah blah blah". The motion.
What I Don't Like:The graphics. The game itself.
Final Statement:This one can be skipped.
