Tap Email is one of those handy little utilitites that you could do without but which make one small aspect of mobile computing just a bit easier. Like many, I live on email these days. Dozens of emails in day after day and dozens of emails out. Most of the time, though, I am emailing a small subset of individuals. Usualy about 6 or 7 plus the emails for adding new notes and tasks to my Evernote and Toodledo accounts.

The iPhone makes riting and sending an email rather east. For exmaple, if I want to add a task to my Toodledo account I

1. Tap the email icon

2.Tap the "New" icon in the lower right corner

3. Tap "T", "A". "S"."K" and then tap "task todo" (I have a number of entries all beginning with "task"

4. Tap in the subject line (because the curser was on the "Send To…" line

I am good to go.

With Tap Email I

1. Tap the "Tap Email" icon

2. Tap The Toodledo icon I set up

I start typing since the curser is placed in the "Subject" line automatically.

That is two less steps and 6 less taps and while it may not sound like much, over the course of a day it adds up.

Setting up Tap Email was as simple as starting the app, tapping one of the nine free "Speed Email" icons and selectng a contact’s email address. If you have an image connected to the contact that image will be displayed. If not, however, the name of the contact will be shown.

Do I need Tap Email/ No but it sure is a nice convenience for just $.99.

Quick Take

Value:  High
Would I Buy Again: Yes
Learning Curve: Low
Who is it for: Anyone who sends a large amount of their email to a small number of people
What I like: Works great. Nice Convenience
What I Don’t: A few second delay to load (but this may be a result of having so many contacts)

Final Statement:  I’ll be keeping Tap Email on my iPhone and iPod Touch.

Read the Developer's Notes:
Tap Email works like a speed dial for your favorite email addresses. Add up to 9 email addresses from your contact list and Tap Email adds their photo stamp to the window. Click the stamp to launch a new email message to that person without having to search through your contact list. In addition, Tap Email keeps each stamp in sync with any changes you make to your contact list. If a contact does not have a photo, Tap Email will display their name in the stamp instead.O U R   T A K E . . .
