Joining the ranks of Lady GaGa, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and Coldplay, popular American rock band Kings of Leon has recently been honored by leading iPhone app developer Tapulous with their very own Tap Tap Revenge premium edition. As one of the hundreds of thousands of fans of the Grammy Award-winning band, I am really pleased to finally be able to listen to their songs and play them on the Tap Tap Revenge platform.

Tap Tap Revenge: Kings of Leon contains a few of the band’s greatest songs upon purchase of the app, but the song list can can be expanded to up to ten tracks by downloading more songs in-app (preferably via Wi-Fi as a slower Internet profile will take up a lot of waiting time). Among the tracks that can be played in this edition are the hit songs "Sex on Fire," "Notion," "Crawl," "On Call," "Black Thumbnail," and "Use Somebody," which won the Record of the Year and Best Rock Song awards at the 52nd Grammy Awards. 

As in the other editions of Tap Tap Revenge, the Career game mode comprises the easy, medium, hard, and extreme levels, all of which are appropriately named, especially the last one since playing a game in that level apparently requires utmost concentration and superhuman reflexes. The available tracks and difficulty levels can also be played in Battle mode, which allows you to host or join a game using P2P Bluetooth protocol. 

If you’ve played at least one game on Tap Tap Revenge 3 (which is available for free on the App Store), or even Guitar Hero or Dance Dance Revolution on your PlayStation, then you’ll have no problem with the gameplay of Tap Tap Revenge: Kings of Leon. You basically have to tap on the three circular pads at the bottom of the game screen as a series of similarly shaped lights pass through them to the beat of the song that’s currently playing, set against a background themed after the band’s album designs and other associated visual works. The idea is to tap on the pads as accurately as possible in order to attain a higher score. Bonus multipliers also appear when you’re on a hitting streak to further increase your points. You can then submit your high scores to the worldwide leaderboard to see if you’re the greatest among the tap-tapping Kings of Leon fans, who you can also chat with through the app’s built-in chatroom.
