User Rating:The problem with an app like TapTunes is that it’s operating under the assumption that Apple doesn’t know what it’s doing design-wise. That’s always a mistake. However, since the concept behind the App Store is freedom of choice for the end user, it only fits that one of the choices would be an alternate interface to the iPhone and iPod Touch music library. Frankly, I doubt Apple even feels threatened (if the new interface is a good idea, they could always steal it later).
In it’s defense, TapTunes is a good alternate design for the audio library of the iPod Touch. And, as an added bonus, it is being offered free as of this writing.
With TapTunes, you can arrange the album art on the screen pretty much any way you like, whether tiled or scattered (they can be moved via dragging). When you tap an album cover, you have the option to play via artist or album. You can also choose to play the music randomly.
As with the regular music library, the music continues even when you exit TapTunes. It’s possible to go and surf the web while still listening to music. You can also zoom into an album (using the usual zoom multi-touch gesture) to view the individual songs on that album.
No app is perfect. My problem with TapTunes is that it seems to focused on albums. For example, there is no way to listen to any audiobooks in the music library. Overall, it’s a good alternate design for listening to music on the iPhone and iPod Touch, particularly at the current price.

Would I Buy Again:Probably.
Learning Curve:Low.
Who Is It For:Those who prefer more visual ways to play music.
What I Like:The alternate design is a nice relief from Apple's.
What I Don't Like:Can't play audiobooks.
Final Statement:For the price (free), it's worth it.
