User Rating:If the people behind Alive 4-Ever didn’t make Team Alpha, you could have fooled me. The game play is remarkably similar. The primary difference is that instead of dealing with zombies, you’re fighting mutant monsters. Big difference.
As with Alive 4-Ever, there are two sets of controls. The left one moves the character around and the right one determines the direction he fires in.
The first things that strikes me as kind of weird upon playing the game is how the lead commando’s legs seem to move independent of the rest of his body. It’s almost like he’s a robot.
The game is part shoot-em-up and part mystery. The commando moves from room to room shooting whatever monsters it finds. The rooms are dark until the commando walks in which does keep the game interesting (you can see which parts of the complex you’ve been at already by tapping the upper right corner of the screen).
The monsters are scorpion-like creatures that don’t look particularly menacing. They don’t come at you non-stop like the zombies in the aforementioned game. Game play might be improved if the creatures could open doors and follow the commando. I haven’t played the higher levels, so that may be possible later on.
The graphics move well but the game itself needs work. Perhaps the creators could take a look at Alive 4-Ever to see what improvements could be made. After all, they’re the same game. Although Alive 4-Ever is a little cheaper. Perhaps you should try the Lite version first.
Quick Take
Value: A little, but not much
Would I Buy Again: Possibly
Learning Curve: Low
Who Is It For: Those who like first-person shooters
What I Like: Good graphics and movement
What I Don’t: Game isn’t terribly interesting compared to others like it
Final Statement: Try the Lite version first to see if you like it, then decide.
