TigerText is a texter-thingy-ma-jig. You know, to save you some money, so you don’t waste busloads of money using the default texter that Verizon and AT&T offer. This apps main purpose is to send messages between friends, without leaving any trace of a text ever being written or sent, such as plans to pick up a wedding ring or sext messages sent to your girlfriend/boyfriend. The text survives on the receiver’s phone and the TigerText server until opened and read.

Well, first off this app requires “sign up”. In my opinion, sign up on any app should be against the law. It takes away from the experience and the enjoyment of the app. Also, this app requires your friends to sign up, as well. So if you want to text your forty different friends at the same time, good luck!

Also, unless you’re a miracle worker, every time you try to invite a friend it just crashes! There is no easy way to invite friends. Maybe it’s me or this app just hates me, apparently it’s been working for ”The Wall Street Journal” where it was featured.

But on the good side, TigerText does inform you that ”the app just crashed”, and also gives you a handy tool, so you can inform the developer what just happened. But the ”crash” hardly ever gets detected and you just find yourself in a loop!

TigerText recently got an update. Now it can send “Unlimited Free Secure Text Messages and Chat”.  Couldn’t the app do that before? The new update also includes “Free Picture and Chat Text Messages”, speed improvement and updated fonts. Not really that much of an important update. And it still crashes.

But there are also good things about this app, as well. First off, TigerText is pretty simple to get used to; I like how it’s right to the point. It’s just inbox, friends, and settings. I like how you can delete your history and manage the life of your texts. The design is simple and clear. It’s really just a couple of tap till you’re texting your friends…if it didn’t crash.

Quick Take

Value:Below the chart.

Would I Buy Again:It's free, but not worth any dough!

Learning Curve:Very low.

Who Is It For:People who would spend their time trying to make this app work.

What I Like:Easy interface.

What I Don't Like:Almost everything about this app!

Final Statement:It feels like this app is a big, steamy dump on the face of the "App Store".

HOW DOES TIGERTEXT WORK?

When sending a regular text message, the message sent will live on the receiver’s phone until the recipient decides to delete it. The text message will also reside on the cell phone company’s server for an unlimited amount of time. TigerText is different because, even though it looks and feels identical to a normal text message, the sender controls when the message is deleted from the recipient's phone and the TigerText server.

WHEN I SEND A TIGERTEXT MESSAGE, WILL I BE CHARGED STANDARD TEXT MESSAGING FEES FROM MY CELL PHONE CARRIER?

No. TigerText does not use your standard text messaging service therefore you will not incur standard text messaging fees for sending TigerText messages. NOTE: You will still be charged for any standard text messages you send outside of TigerText.

WHAT DOES "DELETE ON READ" MEAN?

When a message is sent with “Delete on Read” as soon as the recipient opens the message a countdown clock begins at 59 seconds.

WHAT IF I SEND A TIGERTEXT TO SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE TIGERTEXT INSTALLED?

The user will receive a message from TigerText that encourages them to install the free chat app. Both users must have TigerText in order to communicate through the platform.

IS TIGERTEXT A SEXTING APP?

TigerText is a secure, private mobile app that enables you to have a conversation with whomever you want, whenever you want. Keep in mind, anyone can take a picture of a screen so use your best judgment whenever sending a picture or messages to friends. Be careful texting while intoxicated.

ARE TIGERTEXTS COPYABLE?

Accidental Facebook or Twitter sensation? TigerText supports secure sending and viewing of photos, so share your life without the worry of your life being shared. TigerText was designed for casual users who don’t want a record of all their sent messages kept. But if someone really wanted, they could find a way to video capture your TigerText, take a screen shot, or take a photo of their phone.

You can text free with anyone’s smartphone and know when your message has been received and opened.
