User Rating:Are you an overweight man or woman who wished one day to walk a tightrope between two high-rise buildings? Well now thanks to the App Store game Tightwire, you can do so without risking your life.
Actually, the obese character that tries to walk the tightrope is apparently indestructible. When you fall off the wire into the pavement, you break more of the concrete then you do the person. If you make it across, he does a cute little dance. This is another reason why video games are better than life.
The graphics of the game are incredible. Movement feels natural and when the man falls off the wire, his collapse is shown from various angles.
Game controls are pretty simple. Holding the device in landscape, you move forward by tipping the top of the device forward and balance left or right by tipping the device in that direction. The objective is to make it across without falling to the pavement. When you succeed, you progress onto further levels and taller buildings (note: the free version only comes with one level).
I do wish one could start at the taller buildings rather than waiting to unlock the higher levels. If I paid for the game, I should be able to start where I want.
Overall, it’s a simple and fun game, although the game play doesn’t seem to be any different at the higher levels. In that regards, you might get your money’s worth from the free game. However, the game is good at what it does and could be worth the $.99 cents for those that enjoy balance games.
Pros: Excellent graphics. Cute game.
Cons: Can’t start at higher levels. Game play feels redundant.
