Leave it to MTV and VH1 to provide us folks that lived through the 80’s with one of the most memorable trivia games ever produced for the App Store. There are a myriad of 80’s facts or trivia games out there, but I doubt many use the MTV pop-ups and dialogue that are so familiar to those that grew up in the decade.
Yes, there are ads, but you can’t beat the initial price. Yes, you only get one round of questions that are the same no matter how many times you play. Additional questions cost extra.
Playing the game is pretty straightforward. You’re taken through a series of various questions of different types, some are multiple choice and some are matching (there are no questions where you actually have to type out an answer. Usually you either tap a letter or draw a line). I suspect the questions provided are intentionally easy as they usually have an accompanying graphic that can be taken as a clue.
At the end, your final score is presented to you which can even be uploaded to Facebook. Answers themselves are not given so it’s possible to try again later still not knowing. You can also play with (against?) other folks via Bluetooth.
While I don’t consider the app to be perfect, it’s difficult to suggest improvements, particularly given the price. If you’re an 80’s trivia buff or a fan of VH1, it would be difficult to find an excuse to not download and play this game.
